Canyoning in Ardèche: Everything you need to know before you start!

Looking for thrills in the great outdoors? Canyoning in Ardèche is an unforgettable experience to enjoy with friends or family. But before you dive in (literally!), you're probably wondering: Do you need to be able to swim well? Are jumps mandatory? Is the water cold?
We'll tell you everything in this special canyoning FAQ to help you prepare for your adventure with complete peace of mind.

Are jumps mandatory in canyoning?

No, no jumps are mandatory. You can always choose a safer alternative: bypassing, sliding, or abseiling.
Exception: jumps over 20 meters generally cannot be avoided... but rest assured, these courses are reserved for the most experienced!

Is the water in the canyons cold?

It depends on the season and the river, but our 5mm neoprene wetsuits and neoprene socks provide good insulation.
➡️ Result: even in cool water, you stay warm and comfortable throughout the activity.

What should you bring for canyoning?

Here's the essentials list:
✅ A swimsuit
✅ A bottle of water
✅ A picnic (for day trips)
✅ Suitable footwear (hiking or running shoes). Canyoning shoes are available for rent on site.

Do you need to be a good swimmer?

No need to be an Olympic champion! Knowing how to swim is more than enough.
For children's outings, the only requirement is that the child isn't afraid of water and can put their head underwater.

Can you go canyoning if you're afraid of heights?

Yes, except in cases of severe or pathological vertigo. Our instructors are there to support you, reassure you, and adapt the course to your level. Canyoning is also a great opportunity to overcome your fears... in complete safety.

What equipment is provided?

We provide all the necessary technical equipment:
• 5 mm neoprene wetsuit
• Neoprene socks
